MNIK is more than just a Film! :)

12th Feb, 2010 was the day when MY NAME IS KHAN released worldwide. The opening of this film is breaking the charts. Its heartening for me to see after so much controversy, My King Khan is a Winner, just because of his sheer hardwork on performance. This film truly sets a trademark for all the human beings in the world. The story is about Rizvan Khan- Khan was a man with special challenges. He was more than a name. He believed if you do good deeds... Good things will happen. Until the day that changed everything. This is his journey. We are stronger than our fears. Greater than our limits.

This film is an answer to those who dare to question someone's Nationality for absolutely no reason at all. The day of release brought a good news to watch the movie in the theatre near you & at the same time a bad news of the Virtual Curfews in few parts of India, especially in Mumbai which protested against MNIK. But the love of SRK fans overlapped the curfew orders & protesters who wanted to do Tamashas on that day... became a big Tamasha themselves.

I was also one of the lucky SRK fans who got to see the show on the very same day, though the advance booking in almost all multiplex was closed down, but Good thing had to happen at the PVR Cinemas, Oberoi Mall... & finally got the four tickets to watch the film alongwith my family (I had to sign for the allotment of my seat tickets, like I was doing some crime watching the movie!). Looking around in the surrounding could feel a strange fear spread all over in the atmosphere, with so many Police Officers standing for the protection... so that the show must go on smoothly. This was first time, I couldn't see a single photo of the film hung around... felt really sad about this. The protesters had already damaged many places, it was threatening to even hear the songs of the film in front of a stranger. The film has provoked against the riots happening in India in it is own sweet way that leds all of us to the path of Humanity. It truly teaches, "There is no bigger religion than Humanity in the world." This film is a slap in the face of the protesters, who can try to kill the unhuman in themselves & learn something from the movie.
Reviewing the film:- Rizvan Khan, a Muslim man from India moves to San Francisco & lives with his brother & sister-in-law. Rizvan, who has Asperger's, falls in love with Mandira. Despite protests from his family they get married & start a small business together. They are happy until September 11, 2001 when attitudes towards Muslims undergo a sea-change. When tragedy strikes, Mandira is devastated & they split. Rizvan is confused & very upset that the love of his life has left him. To win her back, he embarks on a touching & inspiring journey across America.

'My Name is Khan' is the triumphant story of an uncoventional hero overcoming obstacles to regain the love of his life.
The dailogues spoken by this innocent Autistic man are just remarkable - My name is Rizvan Khan. I might seem a little 'different' to you. That is because I have Aspergers Syndrome. It is named after Dr. Hans Asperger who first noticed the traits in children. Having Aspergers does not mean I am stupid. I am very intelligent, but I don't understand people. I don't know why people say things they don't mean. For example, they say come to my house any time, & when I go to their house they say why have you come at this time? Sometimes people think, I am rude. I don't mean to be rude, being rude is not good. My mother said there are only good people & bad people in the world & I am a good person..." Few scenes that left a mark on my mind were:-

* Rizvan's first encounter with Mandira, where he gives description about his fairness products he needs to sell. The dailogue is amazing- "The fairness products can only make your skin look beautiful, but can't make you beautiful"- A person who spoke truth, though being a salesman himself.

* Rizvan keeps on saying "Marry Me!" to Mandira. It was lovely to see when Manidra herself comes & proposes to him

* Sa
meer, Mandira's son not being able to pronounce "Khan" & Rizvan teaching him, " My Name is KHAN, from the epiglottis."
* The 9/11 incident changed their life. They lost their son in the name of religion. Sameer being hit hard by the football by a few young boys at his school & had to give his life in such a tender age where eyes can only dream of shaping their future. His friend who witnessed this crime, didn't say a word about the incident, until the day he realized what he did was wrong!
* Mandira's scream for justice on her son's death & asking Rizvan to go right now to meet the President of America & say , "My Name is Khan & I'
m not a Terrorist."
* Rizvan sitting in a masjid, listening to a man preaching The Quran Sharif to a set of Muslims in a wrong manner. Its endearing to see an autistic man making them learn The Quran Sharif in a right manner & stating that Allah's path is of non-voilence & peace.
* Rizvan's journey of life begins with the chant, "Hum Honge Kamyaab..." for proving his unconditional love for Mandira. He packs his bags to meet the President of America & struggles hard to finally a day when President of America himself says" I want to meet Rizvan Khan."
An ordinary man, An extraordinary journey... FOR LOVE.
The melodious music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is soothing to ears. Lyrics by Niranjan Iyengar are so very gently hummable, giving the meaning to blend the film with his fantastic songs like Sajda, Tere Naina, Noor-e-Khuda & Allah hi Reham. The trio - SRK, Karan Johar & Kajol is Back with a Bang. Let the MAGIC CONTIUNE TO PERVAIL & MESMERISE THE NATION... ALL OVER AGAIN!!

Today being 14th Feb, 2010, "Happy Valentines Day" to the readers... please spread the word of Love, Peace & Harmony everywhere & learn Being Human! :)
